Application and TimelineInitial applications for funding should be in the form of a one-page Letter of Inquiry describing the intended research project. The one-page Letter of Inquiry should include title, list of researchers involved, researcher's contact info, proposed budget (including sources of matching funds and proposed funding request), hypotheses, methods, results, goals, (including publication goal which can be a one-sentence explanation including 2-3 target publications for proposed research paper). A brief curriculum vitae for principal investigator should also be included (two page maximum highlighting publications relevant to the proposed research). Letters should be sent to info@lavalakeinstitute.org as MS word or PDF documents. Pre-proposals will be evaluated based upon the relevance of the proposed research to the mission and priority research topics of the Lava Lake Foundation. In addition, projects will be evaluated in part based on the level of matching funds available to the project from other sources. Following review of the Letter of Inquiry, the Research Fund may ask researchers to submit a full proposal. TimelineLetters of Inquiry will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The Research Fund will not be awarding further grants for 2009. We welcome letters of inquiry for 2010 or from researchers interested in access or collaboration. |
